Hey Everyone, Dan here the CEO of Canadian Protein and I have a few tips that I want to share with you that I think are important for getting the New Year off to the right start.
Have a Goal
Goals are important. They push and drive us to succeed. But, they only work if you’re will to as well. Physically write down your goal on a piece of paper. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to build muscle? Do you want to improve your body composition? Whatever it is write it down and put that piece of paper in a place you will see it everyday, like on your fridge, computer, mirror, etc.
Set a Date
Goals are not goals without a deadline so set a date to accomplish your goal. Make sure the date is achievable, but it’s tight enough that you’ll have to push yourself so that when you accomplish it you’ll have a great sense of accomplishment because that can be addicting.
Have a Plan
It’s important to know how you’re going to accomplish your goals. Read, watch, listen, ask, do whatever you need to do to have a concise idea of how you plan to accomplish your goals so that you’re not just spinning your wheels wasting time and energy.
Plan Ahead
This is an important one for New Years Resolutions. So many people wait until January first or soon after to start planning and this is the wrong thing to do. You need to plan ahead, whether it be days, weeks, etc. so that when January first is here, you can hit the ground running so you can start seeing progress as soon as possible. What you don’t want to happen is days or weeks after January first to go by and you’re still trying to figure out a plan of action. The further you go from your start date without acting on your goal the less important your goal will become.
Start Simple
My advice is always to start simple with whatever your goals are. When you overcomplicate things in the beginning, you run the risk of overloading yourself making the process stressful and not enjoyable. Fitness and nutrition does not need to be complicated and small changes can produce big results. Once you find the right path and you’re consistent then you can start to tweak your nutrition and training. You will naturally want to do this anyways to keep it from going stale and to maintain steady progress in achieving your goals.
Happy Holidays Everyone
Let’s hit the ground running when 2017 gets here!
